Issue Position

In 2010, our district was dealt a devastating blow when oil began to spill into the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of our neighbors lost their businesses, their jobs, and even their homes through no fault of their own. We need more from our elected leaders than to put themselves in front of the cameras and microphones and tell us what we already know about BP and the Gulf Coast Claims Facility. We know they have failed us, and we know they have wreaked havoc on our local economy. Press conferences and statements have achieved nothing for those who have been affected. I will put the issue back in front of Congress and our nation. I will work to ensure that, once and for all, those along the Gulf Coast who were affected are justly compensated for what was taken from them.
